BACD: Local Support for Small Business

If you are an entrepreneur in Durham Region, the Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD) should be one of the first stops on your journey. BACD is proud and excited to be involved in Ignite 2013.

We recently sat down for three questions with the BACD’s executive director Teresa Shaver.

The BACD staff: Marlene, Ryan and Teresa.

How does a local business know its time to contact BACD?

Any time! Maybe you have an idea for a business, need to register your business or need to know where to start.  Maybe you’d like help in refocusing your marketing efforts or adding a new service line.  We are always here to help – consider us your business 411.  We encourage all small businesses to check out our seminars, workshops and online resources.

What is one of the most common mistakes that brand-new entrepreneurs make?

Not having a plan or having organized their thoughts around their business idea. It’s common to get excited about an idea and then just run with it. That energy is what makes entrepreneurs what they are.  But every business needs a game plan. We can help with that too.

How have you been enjoying Ignite so far?

This is a great event for helping foster entrepreneurial spirit in Durham Region.  It is exciting to see so many entrepreneurs in one room. Some of them are BACD clients already, and there are some new faces too! I hope some of these entrepreneurs will reach out for our support.
