Congratulations to The Mobile Experience Company and Squabble Studios, who are the winners of the Ignite Start-up competition. Spark Centre made the announcement on Friday, March 1, 2013 as part of the monthly RMG Friday event at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa.
These two companies will now take part in a customized, four-month boot camp to help accelerate their business. The boot camp will include $25,000 in cash and $25,000 in professional business services such as marketing, legal, and accounting.
Although both companies are software startups, that is where the similarities end.
Squabble Studios is a group of recent graduates from the Game Development and Entrepreneurship program in the Faculty of Business and Information Technology at UOIT. These young artists, programmers and project managers have created a game development studio with a focus on serious games, simulations and training applications. They’ve already had traction in the marketplace, and the boot camp will help them more fully launch their business.
The Mobile Experience Company is a team of industry veterans who have created a platform that helps major brands and agencies understand the impact of their advertising dollars. By providing brands with tools to gain real-time insight into how marketing dollars perform across online and offline media channels, Mobile X Co makes it possible to calculate marketing ROI in detail. They will use the boot camp to ramp up their existing business and find scale.
While these companies bask in the glow of their recent win, Spark Centre staff are hard at work assembling the mentorship, services, training and connections these two companies need to get their businesses to the next level.
Stay tuned for more on the Ignite journey as we watch these companies get down to business!
