Wayne Conrad, Chief Scientist, Omachron Science Inc.

Wayne Conrad, Chief Scientist, is responsible for Scientific and Technical Management of Omachron Family of Companies and has founded the Planet Earth Initiative. An Oshawa-based inventor with more than 300 patents and patents pending, his technology can be found in the International Space Station and the Shark vacuum. Jeff Quipp, President and CEO, Search Engine People

Jeff Quipp is the founder and CEO of Search Engine People Inc., in Pickering. The company is Canada’s largest search and social media marketing firm. Jason Atkins, President and CEO, 360 Incentives

Jason Atkins is the President and CEO of 360incentives in Whitby, a company that was recently named a “Company to Watch” by Deloitte. Jason began working with technology early on creating a bulletin board system (BBS) even before the Internet as we know it was really in existence. By the time he was 16 he had his own networking support and software development business where he wrote one of the first online rebate systems in the mid 90s.

Bruce Croxon, Dragon’s Den and Round13

Long before “social networking” became a buzzword, Bruce made his mark as a digital pioneer by co-founding the beginnings of Lavalife in 1988. Under his direction, this early tech start-up grew into the marquee brand in online dating with over 2,000,000 users (and countless successful marriages!). After its spectacular rise and with the support of his partners, he led the sale of the company to a stunning 180-million dollars.


Howard Gwin, Managing Director, OMERS Ventures

In his role as Managing Director of OMERS Ventures, Howard Gwin is responsible for leading investment activities in the North America market focusing on high-growth companies in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. He has experience in every major software industry segment. Prior to joining OMERS Ventures, Howard established a track record as a widely-respected technology company operator. He has helped more than 25 public and private firms to build, scale and drive successful outcomes in the roles of senior operating executive, Corporate Director, Chairman and Operating Chairman.


Ilse Treurnicht, CEO of MaRS Discovery District

Ilse joined MaRS in early 2005 from her role as President & CEO of Primaxis Technology Ventures, a start-up stage venture capital fund focused on the advanced technologies sector. Prior to Primaxis, Ilse was an entrepreneur with senior management roles in a number of emerging technology companies. Ilse holds a DPhil in chemistry from Oxford University, which she attended as a Rhodes scholar. She has twice been honoured with the prestigious Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100™Award—the first time in 2009 and again in 2011.
