We are pleased to present the Power Panel for Ignite 2016! This panel of experts is responsible for selecting the Ignite Finalists at our Round 2 Pitch Competition (October 13th) and selecting the winners after the intense Boardroom Competition (November 15th).

Doug Allingham – Executive Vice President, AECOM Canada
Doug is functionally responsible for all corporate activities within AECOM Canada. Doug has more than 35 years of experience in the field of infrastructure planning and design in both the public and private sectors. He has also been extensively involved in community work. Most recently, Doug was appointed to the Abilities Centre Foundation Board in Whitby. From 2004 to 2013, he served as a trustee on the Lakeridge Health Board of Trustees where he served as chair from 2008 to 2012. Doug also served as a director on the Town of Whitby Chamber of Commerce from 2003 to 2006. In 2012, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for service to the community. Doug chairs the Audit and Finance Committee of the Durham College Board of Governors.


Richard Burdeniuk – Senior Manager, BDO Canada
As the manager of the GTA’s incentive team that focuses on technology media and life sciences, Richard helps companies access all kinds of government programs.

Before joining BDO, Richard spent nine years as an entrepreneur starting with an ISP, moving on to geospatial data collection with Apple Newton’s. More recently developing multi-national grid computing system and image recognition technology for the retail sector.

Richard studied at a McMaster University; majoring in Business & Science, Technology, and Public Policy. He is an avid technology adopter, part-time programmer, guest lecturer at local universities, and volunteer coach to new entrepreneurs.


Jeff Quipp – Founder & CEO of Search Engine People
Jeff’s Win-Win-Win mantra has been a driving force behind the growth of SEP, as the company looks to create long term relationships by ensuring that clients, employees, and the company itself all win out of a relationship.

Jeff has undergraduate degrees in economics and psychology, and an MBA. More importantly, he’s the father of 3 great kids, and finds time to help coach their various sports teams, and most enjoys his role as a father.


Jason Atkins – President & CEO of 360insights
Jason began working with technology early on creating a bulletin board system (BBS) even before the Internet as we know it was really in existence. By the time he was 16 he had his own networking support and software development business where he wrote one of the first online rebate systems in the mid 90’s.

Before founding 360incentives.com, Jason served as President and CEO of TMR, a marketing services company. Jason is on the advisory boards of XTM and Quick Enrollment. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Station Gallery, and serves on the Durham College Multimedia and Web Developer Advisory Committee.


Don Lovisa – President, Durham College
Don arrived at Durham College in July 2007 as vice-president, Academic and was appointed president in 2008. Prior to that, he served as dean of the School of Business, Hospitality and Media Arts at Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where he spent more than 20 years in various positions. Don has also worked internationally, consulting and providing training and teaching in the areas of globalization, market-driven economic transition, international trade, and entrepreneurship and business development.

Additionally, he has an extensive track record of community involvement and development, including his role as co-chair of the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer, an organization dedicated to facilitating the development of transfer pathways among Ontario’s publicly funded colleges and universities.
